Annual Chili Cook Off

The event will be held at the Horizon Room banquet facility (1204 Highway 33 East) on January 24, 2009 from 11am   until 2pm.

Area restaurants and other businesses are invited to participate. The entry fee is $50.00 (non refundible). This will help to cover our expenses. The competing businesses will be mentioned in our advertising and also on the flyers posted around the area.

Each participant will be supply sixteen quarts of chili (enough to fill a standard Nesco roaster), an extension cord, a serving ladle, and someone to serve the chili. If necesary, the Kiwanis will provide a Nesco or a server if arranged in advance.

Each business will have their own table space with an 8" X 10" sign. You may bring your own sign and decorate your area if you would like. We encourage you to promote any specials at you business.

The competition is also open to individuals. The entry fee is $20.00 (non refundible)   and you will be competing for cash prizes. The rules for the chili are the same as for the businesses.

We we also have a special category for non-profit groups. The commitment fee (refundible) is $50.00. Again, the same chili rules apply.

The event is open to the public. Tickets are $6.50 for adults, $5.00 for seniors (65), $3.50 for children between 6 & 12 yrs and children 5yrs and under are free. Besides serving the best chili in the area, we will have coffee, water and a sundae bar.
